Biography

Mr. Schwartz has been with the Spotswood School District since the Spring of 2003, when he was hired as a mid-year replacement art teacher.  In the fall of 2003, he started teaching art full time and in the fall of 2005, took over the Graphic Arts position.  Using his extensive knowledge in the field of computer graphics, he redesigned the courses and created the curriculum for what is now called Computer Graphics and Design.
 
Mr. Schwartz's experience includes more than 30 years as a graphic designer, illustrator and art director.  For the ten years prior to arriving at SHS, he was the Senior Art Director for the NBA, working on more than 500 projects ranging from event graphics, NBA Store window designs, internet ad banners, DVD interfaces, uniforms, logos and more.
 
These days he is responsible for many of the printed materials in the Spotswood School District as well as volunteering his skills for a variety of community organizations. He is also an adjunct professor of design studies at Kean University's Michael Graves College and is the co-founder of a design education nonprofit, the DESIGN-ED coalition.
