Principal's Message
Welcome to Spotswood High School! It is a privilege and an honor to serve as principal of Spotswood High School, an institution with a rich history and strong commitment to fostering a caring and supportive environment.
In my time in education, I have been a teacher, a coach, a K-12 supervisor, and a high school administrator. I received my bachelor’s degree in political science from Johns Hopkins University and my master’s degree from The College of New Jersey. Throughout these varied roles, I have carried with me the belief that rich learning takes place when challenging instruction occurs in concert with supporting the whole child, engaging families, and empowering our educators.
To accomplish this goal, I encourage our Chargers to emphasize three things on their high school journey: Work Hard, Have Fun, and Take Care of One Another.
A Spotswood High School graduate is creative, scholarly and civic-minded. As a faculty/staff, we pride ourselves on encouraging students to be life-long learners who use their knowledge to make meaningful contributions to their communities. We encourage our students to “Work Hard” by taking challenging courses, demonstrating their curiosity, and considering the varied options available to them to further their education after high school in whatever their chosen passion may be.
We encourage balance by reminding our students that we all need to set aside time to “Have Fun!” Whether it is at Friday night football games, singing and dancing in the school musical, playing a game of Dungeons & Dragons, showing off at Mr. Spotswood, or dancing at the Prom, it is often in extracurriculars that lasting friendships are formed and memories made. We are pleased to offer a place for every student to get involved!
Our greatest sense of pride lies in the way that our Chargers “Take Care of One Another.” Our students report over and over again that they have trusted adults in our building; We treat every child as if they are our own. Whether through DECA, Heroes & Cool Kids, Safety Ambassadors, or any number of our service based clubs, our students give their time and energies towards bettering their communities through volunteerism.
High school is a time of change, challenges, exploration, and successes. More than ever, our students need our guidance as they develop the necessary skills to realize their aspirations. My greatest initiative is to provide the leadership necessary to facilitate a learning environment that nurtures both their character and their competencies. Our greatest strength in this endeavor is our people: our staff, faculty, students, families, and community.
We look forward to working with you as we move towards this common goal. My door is always open if you have a concern about your child’s development, academic or otherwise.
